Jacob is a licensed Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer in North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Catawba College in 2015, and he graduated from Elon University in 2018 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Jacob worked with various athletic teams during his years at Catawba College, including baseball, softball, football, basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse. He also has experience working with professional athletes, having completed internships with the Carolina Panthers and Chicago White Sox organizations in 2013. He was recognized for his academic and clinical accomplishments by receiving the Russell Award for the Most Outstanding Student in Sport and Health Sciences, as well as, the Dr. Frank Meyer Award for the Most Outstanding Student Athletic Trainer. Prior to attending graduate school, Jacob worked at Novant Health Orthopedic and Sports Medicine as an Athletic Trainer where he was able to work side by side with athletes of various sports.
Jacob joined the BYoung Family as a student physical therapist during his final DPT clinical internship in 2018 and continued as a Doctor of Physical Therapy following board certification in 2019. He is now the lead hitting biomechanist and is trained to perform 2D and 3D hitting analyses to improve hitting power and efficiency.
With his history in Athletic Training, time in collegiate baseball, and experience working with professional athetes, Jacob is passionate about sports medicine and helping individuals reach their full potential. His goal is to develop individualized treatment programs that incorporate hands-on approaches and specific strengthening programs designed to address functional deficits and improve athletic performance.
