About Me

With experience as a beginner runner and a collegiate volleyball athlete, Bailey Tyson is passionate about providing evidenced-based and individualized treatments designed to empower and aid both non-athletes and athletes in overcoming injuries to return to the activities and athletics they love to do.

Bailey was originally born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. She attended Bridgewater College in Harrisonburg, Virginia where she majored in Health Exercise Science and minored in Nutrition and Wellness, all while competing in NCAA Division III volleyball as an outside hitter. Bailey and her husband moved to the Chapel Hill-Raleigh-Durham area at the end of 2020 after finishing her Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.

Before coming to BYoung Physical Therapy, Bailey had three years of clinical practice in outpatient orthopedics giving her a broad base of clinical knowledge in managing post-operative rehabilitation, chronic pain, lower extremity injuries, and a variety of other musculoskeletal conditions that affect the athlete and non-athlete alike. Recognizing the importance of strength training in multiple athletic and patient populations, she went on to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.

Bailey is passionate about being a life-long learner and continues to strive to provide high quality interventions and treatments to her patients. She has completed a year-long orthopedic residency program through Upstream Rehabilitation Institute that supplied her with advanced experience, knowledge, and skills in the area of orthopedic physical therapy. She recently sat for her Orthopedic Specialist Certification (OCS) board exam, and is working toward completing her clinical Certification of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT).

Bailey grew up playing soccer, volleyball, and softball competitively, and went on to college to play volleyball. After college, she found a new passion with strength training as well as running as a recreational and endurance activity, and she has completed several races of varying distances (including 5k to 10 miles).

Bailey enjoys combining her personal experience as an athlete with her professional skill set and knowledge to guide both athletes and nonathletes in their rehabilitation process, by becoming more resilient and feeling stronger when participating in their sports and daily activities, all while empowering them to continue to strive toward their goals.
